YouthWorks: The High Price of a Low Wage - resource
for schools

YouthWorks is a landmark documentary that confronts the
issues faced by young workers today. It shows that young
people are sharply monitoring workplace issues and that many are
taking a stand when they feel their entitlement to a 'fair go' is
being breached.

YouthWorks is accompanied by a Study Guide so that the DVD can be
used most effectively.
A downloadable copy of the study guide will be available soon.

Advocacy

Child Labour Award
The working environment for young people has changed dramatically
over the past few years. The increase in casual work and the
Federal Government's Industrial Relations laws make it easier for
employers to take advantage of young people and drive down their
wages and conditions.
Now more than ever young people need protection in the workplace.
That is why we have drafted a Child Labour Award. The award
will be used to ensure all employers in South Australia adhere to
minimum standards when employing young people under the age of 18
years.

asking the Industrial Relations Commission to establish for young
workers.

Your Rights at Night (Worth Listening to)

The only union radio program in Adelaide
Each week our dynamic team of presenters pack the one hour
program with information about your rights at work, union campaigns
and activities and other social issues. We feature local
bands, music and interviews with local union and community
identities.
The program also aims to increase the awareness and knowledge of
members of our community about the new workplace laws with the
promotion of the Your Rights at Work campaign. The program
will provide listeners with the opportunity to learn firsthand how
the new workplace laws are impacting on working Australians, through
worker stories and experiences. There will be special features
on low paid workers, women and young people.
Your Rights at Night is an alternative 'voice' to the often
misleading and selective information dished out by mainstream media
about important issues to the community. Smart and sassy, it's
grassroots activism at its best. Definitely worth listening
to!
