U-Who is the youth movement within the South Australian
union movement. U-Who assists young workers to build
workplaces and workforces that are free of exploitation, harassment
and discrimination.

U-Who ensures that the views of young people are
heard and taken seriously by the South Australian community. We
believe that the only way young workers can have an effective voice
at the workplace, without being targeted individually, is
collectively through unions. We encourage young people aged 30 years
and under to get active in campaigning for better pay and working
conditions by joining the union movement. Click

The 'Real' Work Experience
We are really concerned about
the exploitation of young people in the workforce. We have surveyed
young people aged 15-25 years and have found:
• 1 in 4 are bullied at work
• Half of all young people are employed as casuals
• 1 in 4 are sacked for unfair reasons
• Young people are more likely to be injured at work than any
other age group
• 1 in 4 feel pressured to work whilst sick
• 21% have been sexually harassed at work
Have any of these things
happened to you? click

We believe that the increase in casual employment
and apprenticeships and traineeships in the 15-24 age group has
resulted in working environments that are highly exploitative,
unsafe and discriminatory. We believe that these working
situations are negatively impacting on young people physically and
psychologically as well as financially and socially.
